2Cor. 10:3-4 – “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal.”

1 Corinthians 12:8-10 – Listing of Manifestation Gifts

Ministry Gifts Cont…

41. Ministry gifts are , becoming a continual part of their life.

42. Ministry gifts are related to gifts.  They are not natural abilities,    but are generally based upon the innate abilities of the individual.

43. Ministry gifts determine the one holds in the body of Christ.

44. Ministry gifts are really gifted .  In order for the church to receive the gift(s), she must receive the person.

45. Each believer is to and develop his ministry gift(s).

MANIFESTATION gifts stand somewhat in contrast to ministry gifts.

46. They are .  They are not given permanently to an individual.    They are out-shinings of the Holy Spirit at a specific time and place.

·        Manifestation gifts have no relation to natural ability.

·        Manifestation gifts have little relationship to the position in the body of Christ.  Manifestations do not determine one’s ministry in the church.

·        The gift is emphasized here, and not the person.  It is a manifestation of the Spirit and it is this manifestation which must be received.  The person being used is just a channel.

·        The body is to receive and rejoice in these surprises of the Spirit.

MANIFESTATION GIFTS – 1 Corinthians 12

a.      A Word of Wisdom – Acts 15

A word of wisdom is a supernatural utterance of a specific word, given at a specific time, giving God’s wisdom to a specific situation.

b.     A Word of Faith – Acts 5

It is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit in which God imparts to a member of the body of Christ information or facts which only God may know.

c.     Faith – Acts 27

It is a special gift of faith bestowed upon a member of the Body to enable its recipient to carry out some special task of ministry.

d.     Gifts of Healing

God ministers healing to members of the body of Christ.  Every healing is a fresh gift.

e.     Working of Miracles

This is a manifestation of supernatural power given to the servant of God to authenticate the preaching of the Word.  According to Mark 16:17 believers do not follow miracles, miracles follow believers.

f.       Prophecy

Prophecy is the manifestation of a spontaneously uttered word from the Lord given through any member of the Body for the encouragement, edification or exhortation of the church.  This is the one gift that is both a ministry and manifestation.

g.     Discerning of Spirits

This is the manifestation of the Spirit which enables a member of the body to determine with supernatural confidence the spiritual source of the conduct or message of a prophet or teacher.

h.     Tongues

This is the manifestation of the Spirit which enables a person to speak to the church in a language he does not understand and which is incomprehensible to the hearers.

i.       Interpretation of Tongues

It is the manifestation of the Spirit which must accompany the manifestation of tongues, giving the meaning of what has been spoken in tongues.
